PARASITES with Eddie Opara | Design Week Portland Program
Client: AIGA Portland
Role: Programming Director
PARASITES was a day-long, two-part series with Pentagram Partner, Eddie Opara. It challenged attendees to re-image, craft new purposes, and infuse meaning within everyday spaces. I produced and managed the event. I also worked with Eddie to refine the design brief for the workshop (part one) and the content for the follow-up presentation/discussion (part two).
Design Brief & Guidelines
Design and build a physical parasitic model that applies a cause to protest, hacking through the commercial, social, and mass media landscape. The message should be about a subject you are passionate about. Choose your parasitic site carefully, the contextual location is incredibly important. The graphical language must be bold and ready to start an insurrection. Build a parasitic form that is dimensional, using the following materials: paper, tape, pins, foam core, blades and rulers.
